Security Reporting Centre FAQ
(formerly Firewall Suite)

FAQ

What is Security Reporting Center (SRC) - formally known as Webtrends Firewall Suite?
SRC lets you centrally collate and report on an entire Enterprise's firewall logs, proxy servers and security events into one central management console.

One console gives you a complete (probably never before seen) insight into all of your Company's firewall, router, VPN, proxy server and other event activity.

OK but what does it do?
Lets say you have 3 firewalls, a couple of routers, and several ISA or WebMarshal servers.

Using SRC you can quickly and easily collate all of the logging information produced by all of these devices, and run reports such as

  • bandwidth used
  • hacker attempts
  • which users, protocols, departments and protocols use the most bandwidth
  • even fact anything you like..!

SRC comes complete with over 200 inbuilt reports - or you can create your own.

Reports can be viewed and printed in a variety of formats including graphcs and charts.

What is Firewall Suite? Is it the same?
NetIQ used to own both SRC and Firewall Suite. Marshal Ltd now own these products.

Firewall Suite ONLY reports on certain firewall devices. It has been deemed "End of Life" and will not be further developed. Existing Firewall Suite customers will be supported for a limited period but SRC has now superceded Firewall Suite.

SRC provides vastly more functionality and all Firewall Suite customers should upgrade.

What Operating System does SRC run on?
SRC is available for Windows 2000 and above, and Sun Solaris based systems. See the current Datasheet for full, current information.

Can I find out / report on what my users have been sending and receiving?
Absolutely.

All network traffic, protocols and usage are reported on. For example you can quickly discover which users have used FTP the most.

Can SRC handle log files from load balanced firewalls or proxy servers?
Yes

Can I Schedule Reports?
Yes

What format / which database does SRC use?
SRC uses MySQL which is included with the install pack.

Can I run SRC on my PC at home?
Yes you can (provided you meet the spec requirements), however SRC is priced for Business use and may not be cost efffective for the average home user.

Ive bought SRC how do I get a permanent licence key?
Chances are you have already got the product installed. If not, download a trial copy from this website and install / configure it to your needs.

Your permanent key will be emailed to you generally withing 48 hours of us receiving payment from your reseller.

If you need a copy or other assistance with licence keys please contact us.

What happens if my trial licence expires and I havent had time to evaluate the software properly?
Contact us if you need an extension to your trial key.

How is SRC Licenced?
SRC is licenced on the number of devices you are reporting on. If you have 1 firewall you wish to report on you need a 1 device licence pack etc.

If I exceed my licence count, will SRC stop working?
You will only be able to report on the number of devices you are currently licenced for. For example if you have a 5 device licence, and you try and add a 6th, the software will not allow you to add that device.

Contact us to add extra devices.
